Kentucky Rough Rider
When my heart has stopped and there is no breath in my lungs give me 5 minutes then burn my bones and spread me across Kentucky,
One in a long line and I hope I aint the last, of them Kentucky Rough Riders.
I was born in Georgia, but Kentucky has always been my home, I drifted across this country, but I am a Kentuckian and right know I’m livin in Texas, but one day I’ll get back to my ol’ Kentucky home, even if it is in an ashtray so you can spread my ashes across Kentucky, One in a long line and I hope I aint the last, of them Kentucky Rough Riders.
One in a long line and I hope if you think I’m dead you pull that rope tight because I have a habit that Death has yet been able to break, I keep coming back from my grave because I am a Kentucky Rough Rider, and we don’t die easy and I am One in a long line and I hope I aint the last, of them Kentucky Rough Riders.
Shotgun crossin my back and six guns on my hips, fightin to stay alive since I was born, I’m tellin you all your bullets can’t stop me, I am a Kentucky Rough Rider and we never die because it aint just a body it is spiritual and we carry on till the end of time so I know I am not the last Kentucky Rough Rider.
